Daniel Ocasio, of Windsor, died Wednesday, Aug. 12. He was discovered by police sitting on a bunk in his cell with a cloth mask tied around his neck, police said. Ocasio had been in prison since Aug. 5. The facility is in Montville. He was awaiting trial on a charge of third-degree burglary. The medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death and whether it was a suicide, homicide, or accident.
