Ridgefield Police Officer Luis Caba retired on Friday, Sept. 15 to lots of well wishes from co-workers and the public.
Caba started his career with the Ridgefield Police Department in February 1997.
He served in the Patrol Division for 27 years.
During his time as an, he wore many hats.
As a school resource officer, Caba was well respected by the students and staff.
He built lasting relationships with the school community while creating a safe learning environment in our schools, the department said.
He was also a well-known DARE Instructor, educating countless youths on internet safety, how to stand up to bullying, and the dangers of drug use and addiction.
Caba had many specialized skills and received multiple recognitions during his career including:
- Exceptional Service Awards in 2000 & 2011
- Officer of the Year in 2009
- Unit Citation Award in 2016
- DARE Officer
- School Resource Officer
- Honor Guard Member
- Car Seat Technician
"We would like to thank Officer Caba for his 27 years of dedicated service to the Ridgefield Police Department and to our community," the department said. "We wish him well in his future endeavors. Congratulations Lou."
