The special election will be held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Yanity Gym, 60 Prospect St., Ridgefield.
The ballot question will be as follows:
“Shall the Town of Ridgefield sell to Charter Group Partners, LLC 9.858 acres of land located on Sunset Lane for the construction of up to 54 units, all of which are to be age restricted, for the sum of $4,300,000, with the proceeds to be used to offset the cost of the purchase?”
Eligible residents may vote “yes” or “no.”
Town officials have hotly debated the future of the Schlumberger property, located on Old Quarry Road, numerous times for several years.
Voters have rejected two previous proposed uses for the property, which the town purchased for $7 million in 2012, according to newstimes.com.
Absentee ballots are available for Tuesday’s election, and may be obtained by contacting the Ridgefield Town Clerk’s Office at Ridgefield Town Hall, 400 Main St.; 203-431-2700.
