Problems Counting Ballots Delay Ridgefield Results

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Ridgefield’s votes are in from Tuesday’s election, but the full results are not available due to several issues that came up during the counting last night.

The results from the four Ridgefield polling stations are in, but the town registrars are trying to reconcile some discrepancies in the data.

Part of the hold up in getting the results, said Hope Wise Republican Registrar for Ridgefield, was that in District 2 two ballots had been stuck together.

Wise said Districts 2, 3 and 4 were all in but there had been issues with getting complete results for District 1 and the absentee ballots.

“We’re trying to find votes and voters to reconcile them,” Wise said. The Secretary of State is assisting the town in trying to determine where the discrepancies are with the results.

“Absentees for a presidential ballot are a whole different story,” said Wise, adding there are seven different types of absentee ballots that all need to be counted and recorded in different ways.

Results are expected to be in sometime mid-afternoon Wednesday.
