On May 24, 2013, Ridgefield Police responded to a report of a domestic-violence dispute at the home of John Valluzzo at 423 Ridgebury Road, police said.
When officers arrived, Valluzzo, 75, approached them with a handgun at about 5:20 p.m., police said. He was shot to death by Officer Jorge Romero when he refused to put down the weapon, police said.
Valluzzo was the founder and president of the Military Museum of Southern New England in Danbury.
The one-page statement was released by the commission after an executive session July 22. It cited a review of the Connecticut State Police Investigation, a report by the Danbury Office of the State’s Attorney, and a report by the Internal Affairs Administrative Review of the fatal shooting incident.
A report released July 9, by Danbury State’s Attorney Stephen Sedensky said Romero had been justified in using deadly force.
