Ridgefield Man Charged In Home Improvement Job

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – A Ridgefield man was charged Wednesday with impersonating a licensed home improvement contractor.

Anthony DeFranco, 52, turned himself in to the Ridgefield Police Department after learning an arrest warrant had been issued by the Connecticut attorney general’s office, the Ridgefield police said.

According to an affidavit submitted by the attorney general’s office in August, the incident leading to the arrest warrant involved a single home improvement job at a house in Ridgefield. The report says that in September 2011, DeFranco accepted a job to replace roof shingles, install exterior fixings and replace rotted wood at the house.

The state says DeFranco’s contractor’s license expired in 2007.

A police report said DeFranco was charged with impersonating a licensed home improvement contractor and offering or making home improvements without a certificate, both misdemeanors.

He was held on $50,000 bond and was due in court Wednesday. The outcome of the court appearance was unknown.
