The Board of Selectmen accepted Tappe’s resignation at a meeting Wednesday evening, the News-Times said.

Tappe was put on administrative leave in December, when the town began investigating the unspecified violations, the News-Times said.

Assistant Chief Jerry Myers has been acting chief, the story said.
