The incident happened at the corner of Rockwell Road and Branchville Road, closing both roads, according to the Ridgefield Press and the state Department of Transportation.

A downed tree on the wire created “heavy fire on the road” at the intersection, the Press said.

The Ridgefield Fire Department and Police Department were on the scene and expect Branchville Road/Route 102 to be closed in the area until 3 p.m., the Ridgefield Press said.

Drivers are advised to avoid the Branchville Road-Rockwell Road area.

By 11 a.m., only 40 customers were still without power, Eversource said. Eversource is on the scene.
