Police in Ridgefield have launched an investigation after counterfeit cash was discovered making the rounds at at least a pair of Fairfield County stores.

Investigators from the Ridgefield Police Department received a report at approximately 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, from a local business owner who stated that a customer had attempted to use a counterfeit $20 bill to complete a purchase.

According to police, it appears that the bill originated from a store in Norwalk. The latest incident comes several weeks after a New York resident was arrested in Ridgefield and charged with first-degree forgery for passing counterfeit bills at local businesses.

Police said that the latest case of a counterfeit bill is under investigation. Check Daily Voice for updates.
