The incident came to light around 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17, when the Wilton Police Department was notified of a video posted to a social media site involving a possible school threat, said Lt. Robert Kluk.

The post was a video made by a student from Wilton High School that suggested the threat of violence, Kluk said.

Members of the department’s Patrol and Youth Division were able to immediately identify the student that posted the video.

Officers made contact with the student and the parents around 9 p.m. Sunday at their home, Kluk said.

The student told officers that the post was not meant as an actual threat and was posted to gain likes on the social media site and that it was taken down shortly after it was posted.

"The student appeared remorseful and understood the consequences of his actions," Kluk said.

The student was arrested and charged with breach of peace and released into the parent's custody.

"Throughout the investigation the student and the parents have been cooperative with investigators," Kluk said. " At no time did there appear to be a viable threat to the public or school community and the department stresses that there is no active threat to the public or school community.

The Department coordinated with the Wilton Public Schools at the onset of the investigation and continues to communicate.
