Shirley Y. Hodgdon, 78, Of Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. - Shirley Y. Hodgdon of Ridgefield died Oct. 16. She was 78.

Hodgdon was born in Fayetteville, N.C., to Rudyard and Lois Young. She moved to Ridgefield in 1968 with her husband, Theodore A. Hodgdon, Jr. She volunteered at the Keeler Tavern, serving as a leader in the Ridgefield Woman’s Club, the PTA, the Eastern Airlines Wives Club and the Ridgefield Tiger Hockey Association. She worked for ProntoAire and Aviation International News at Danbury Municipal Airport.

Hodgdon is survived by her son, Theodore A. Hodgdon, III (Kathryn); daughter, Victoria H. Tod (Robert); four grandchildren; and sisters, Joyce Owen and Patricia Gassaway. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore; her parents; and sister, Jeanette Miller.

Calling hours are Saturday, Oct. 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St. in Ridgefield, concluding with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will take place in North Carolina at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home and burial at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
