Maxine Frances Rizzo, 58, Retired Ridgefield Police Officer

NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Maxine "Max" Frances Rizzo of New Fairfield died Saturday, July 27. She was 58.

Rizzo was born Feb. 25, 1955, in Danbury, daughter of Josephine Kovacs. She retired after 27 years of service to the Ridgefield police department as a police officer and as a homeland security officer. She was a volunteer at St. Peter's Church and the VFW.

Rizzo is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Billie-Jo, of New Fairfield; brothers, Craig Kovacs (Lori) of Southbury, Phil Prinz (Ann) of Brewster, N.Y.; sister, Ann Kovacs, of Brookfield; sisters-in-law and brothers in-law; many nieces, nephews; and friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Frances and Maxamillion Prinz; and her mother, Josephine.

Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9  at St Peters' Church, Danbury. Entombment will follow at St Peter's Cemetery, Danbury.
