James DeLuca, 95, Ridgefield Native

REDDING, Conn. – James P. DeLuca of Redding, and formerly of Ridgefield, died Oct. 25 at Ridgefield Crossing. He was 95.

DeLuca was born June 29, 1917, in Ridgefield to David and Mary DiOrio DeLuca. He attended Ridgefield schools and graduated from Ridgefield High School. DeLuca retired from the former Schlumberger-Doll Research Company.

He was married to Leonora Roberti DeLuca, who predeceased him. DeLuca was a member of the Italian American Mutual Aid Society and St. Mary Church in Ridgefield.

He is survived by a niece, Scarlett Kleinow, of Homewood, Ill.; two nephews, Dean DeLuca, of Weston, and David O'Hara, of Colleyville, Texas; three first cousins, Anna DeLuca, with whom he lived in Redding, Giuliano DeLuca, of Bethel, and Anthony DeLuca Sr., of Redding; and a sister-in-law, Joan DeLuca, of Weston. DeLuca was predeceased by a sister, Jenny O'Hara; and a brother, Dominic DeLuca.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Church, with the Rev. Laurence Bronkiewicz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Ridgefield. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. before the services at Kane Funeral Home in Ridgefield.
