RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Fred "Buddy" White of Ridgefield died Jan. 5 at Danbury Hospital. He was 78.
He was born Sept. 15, 1934, in Westchester County, N.Y., to Frederick and Gale Byrne White. He attended St. John’s School and Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, N.Y. and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Manhattan College. He served in the Army.
White was a 47-year resident of Ridgefield, and was married to Margaret "Peg" Hegarty White for 50 years. He worked as an electrical engineer for Data Products Corporation, Reflectone Corporation and Sikorsky Military Systems before retiring and working as a consultant.
White enjoyed golf and was a member of St. Mary Parish in Ridgefield.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Dawn Marie (Dennis) Bell, of Ridgefield; two sons, Robert A. (Wendy) White, of Ipswich, Mass., and John F. (Eileen) White, of Holmdel, N.J.; and nine grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday at St. Mary Church. Kane Funeral Home in Ridgefield handled arrangements.
