Walk for Childhood Cancer Research in Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Take a walk this Sunday at the Ridgefield Boys and Girls Club to help fund a cure for childhood cancers.

There will be music, face painting, street performers, and other activities will be going on before the walk, and money raised will go to support the clinical research at the Children’s Oncology Group, a childhood cancer-research group.

“We have a chance to make a real difference in the lives of the 36 children diagnosed with cancer each day,” said Elizabeth Butler, Ridgefield Committee chair of Fairfield County CureSearch Walk. “Participating in the Walk, any way you can, helps to find a cure.”

“My family and I are dedicated to helping build awareness and to raise the necessary funds for lifesaving research to help other families impacted by childhood cancer,” said Butler. She said that the Fairfield County CureSearch Walk was founded in honor of her niece Eloise, who died of cancer two years ago at age 14.

Teams are still being formed for this Saturday’s walk and those interested in taking part should visit the CureSearch Walk website.
