Another group is also interested in using the site for a Maurice Sendak museum, First Selectman Rudy Marconi told the Ridgefield Press.
The local theatrical group is interested in the site for a strictly professional theater that would not compete with the Theater Barn or the Ridgefield Playhouse, the Press said.
Marconi would not name the people or groups beyond saying that they are from Ridgefield, added the Press.
The Schlumberger theater and Philip Johnson building — named after the architect who designed it — are among the few buildings left after demolition in 2011.
Any deal would have to wait until the site is cleaned up from an oil leak on the site, added the Press.
