RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield resident Timothy G. Griffin, a lawyer in Bronxville, N.Y., pleaded guilty in New York State Supreme Court to stealing nearly $2 million from a Staten Island cemetery, according to silive.com.
Griffin, 55, stole the money in an effort to replace more than $1 million he had taken from clients' escrow accounts, the report said. He faces up to nine years in prison on the charges and will be sentenced on April 28, silive.com said.
The guilty plea comes just one week after Griffin was sentenced to six months in federal prison for filing false tax returns.
