A total of 70 to 80 closed roads were still being cleared. Ridgefield asks for residents to be patient as power is restored. Restoration efforts will continue through the weekend, officials said.
Here is news of use to Ridgefield residents:
• Water and Meals Ready to Eat are available at Yanity Gym from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Enter from the Governor Street side.
• Founders Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for all adult residents. No membership is required.
• Open burning is suspended until further notice.
• Public information posting locations are: Town Hall, Parks & Rec, Founders Hall, Ancona’s, Stop & Shop, Ridgebury Fire Station 2 and the Valero Gas Station at the Route 7/Danbury Road intersection.
• Parks & Recreation at 195 Danbury Road is open for all residents as a shelter.
• Drinking water filling stations are set up at the Ridgefield Playhouse, Parks & Recreation and Fire Station 2 on Old Stagecoach Road. Nondrinking water is available at Fire Station 2 only.
• The Transfer Station is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday, Nov. 4, for free disposal of storm-related brush for noncommercial residents and food waste. The Recycling Center is open its normal hours.
• The SATs that were scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3, have been canceled and rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17. Superintendent Deborah Low will make a final assessment Sunday afternoon, Nov. 4, regarding the status of school opening on Monday.
• Residents must keep generators out of their homes, garages and basements. In addition, carbon monoxide detectors are critical for safe use of generators.
• Please continue to check on your neighbors, and always dial 911 for emergencies.
