RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Most of Ridgefield has had its power restored as of 4 p.m. Monday. But Connecticut Lights & Power reported that 6 percent of the town was still in the dark.
By late Monday afternoon, more than 100 line and tree crews were still working to restore power to the town. First Selectman Rudy Marconi asked for patience as the crews continued their work. Also, here are several notices from the town for residents:
• If you have a power interruption after power is restored, it usually means that another portion of your line is being turned on. If the outage lasts more than 20 minutes, call CL&P at 1-800-286-2000.
• If you live on a state highway, the state will not pick up brush from your property. Do not put it out on the road.
• The Transfer Station is open for free drop-off of storm-related brush, debris and food waste for noncommercial vehicles from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday, Nov. 10.
• Burning permits for storm-related debris can be obtained at the Fire Department; fees are waived until Nov. 21. As always, leaves may not be burned, only brush.
• The commodities distribution of water, MREs and tarps will shut down today at 4 p.m.
• After today, there will no longer be a nondrinking water station at Fire Station 2; however, hoses are still available if water is needed at Parks & Rec and Yanity Gym.
• The Shelter at Parks and Rec will be open today and will transition to a warming shelter Tuesday. Charging stations and showers will be offered from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. If you need help with accommodations, call the Ridgefield Fire Department at 203-431-2724.
• The wires from the road to your house are the responsibility of CL&P. The homeowner is responsible for anything that attaches these wires to the house.
• If your neighbors have power and you do not, call CL&P.
• The town has no input into the priority of restoration. CL&P makes that determination.
• Our information shows us that most roads are now passable, however extreme caution is advised. If you have information suggesting otherwise, contact the call center.
• Call 1-800-288-2020 to report your AT&T telephone service interruption. For Comcast outages, call 1-800-266-2278.
• No decision has been made yet regarding Halloween. We will reassess once restoration is completed.
• Due to the large number of crews in town, many roads may be temporarily closed Be patient and choose alternate routes of travel.
• Call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362 for disaster assistance reimbursement information or go to www.disasterassistance.gov .
