Downed Utility Pole, Wires Closes Route 35 In Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — Route 35/Main Street was closed due to debris blocking the roadway on Tuesday morning, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The closure is between Gilbert Street and Olcott Way, with a utility pole and power lines in the road, DOT said. 

The pole fell during the night as heavy winds blew across the area.

Police said the closure is in the vicinity of Casagmo Condominiums.

Here are detours for motorists to follow: 

  • Northbound Detour: Gilbert Street to New Street to Pound Street
  • Southbound Detour: Pound Street to New Street to Gilbert Street. 

It was not clear when repairs would be made and when the road would reopen. 

Eversource was reporting 55 power outages in Ridgefield as of 8 a.m. Tuesday due to the wind.
