Aquarion Issues Boil Water Warning For Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – The water company Aquarion and the Connecticut Department of Public Health has issued a boil water warning for Ridgefield. “They felt due to the low-water pressure that there may be a coliform issue and just to be safe they issued the warning to boil water,” said First Selectman Rudy Marconi. Aquarion listed these roads in Ridgefield as needing to follow the boil water notice:

Ridgefield Lakes Main System - Bates Farm Road, Bennetts Farm Road, Clearview Drive, Crescent Drive, Crest Road, Cross Hill Road, Great Hill Road, Highcliff Terrace, Highview Road, Lakeside Drive, Lakeside Drive Extension, Lakeview Drive, Limestone Road, Lookout Drive, Lookout Road, Madeline Drive, Maplewood Road, Marie Lane, Midrocks Road, Rainbow Drive, Ridgeway Terrace, Rustic Drive, Rustic Road, Shady Lane, Sylvan Drive, Waters Edge Way, Woodland Way

The Department of Health gave several ways to disinfect water:

  • Boil at a rolling boil for one minute. Make sure water is clear of floating pieces before boiling
  • Add 8 drops of liquid chlorine bleach per gallon of clear water or 16 drops per gallon for cloudy water. Do NOT use bleach that has perfumes or ingredients other than sodium hypochlorite as it may be toxic
  • Add water purification tablets according to directions on the package.

Only residents on the listed roads need to worry about boiling water and the water company said they will let residents know when the boil water advisory has ended.
