RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — Two Ridgefield men have launched their own relief effort to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Houston.

And you can help them help others in need as they make a large-scale grocery run for Houston residents who have been forced into shelters from the flooding.

Ezra Zimmerman, owner of EZ Moving and Junk Removal, is planning to fly to Texas on Friday with his friend Pete Rossini from Rossini Landscaping.

They will then rent a 26-foot box truck and load it up with $10,000 worth of food and water and deliver the donation on Saturday.

"Everything will be delivered to the 5th Ward Multi-Service Center in Houston," Zimmerman said in a post on a GoFundMe page he started.

The goal is to raise $10,000 to pay for the groceries and supplies for the people in need.

"If we do not meet our goal, Pete and I will pay for the difference to make this happen ! Any help would be appreciated!," he said on the GoFundMe page.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the two had raised $6,398 of their $10,000 goal. They had donations from 90 people in 14 hours.

"Good Luck in Houston — it is a great thing you are doing," said one person who donated.

Another supporter said: "Have a safe trip. This is a wonderful endeavor that can make a direct impact. Thank you."

The Fifth Ward Multi-Service Center is located at 4014 Market St. in Houston. All of the city's multi-service centers have been turned into shelters , along with many schools, community centers, churches and stores.
