The farmers market took a year off after 20011 but has returned now that the Ridgefield Planning and Zoning Commission approved a special permit for the Community Center, according to the Ridgefield Press. The special permit allows occasional outside events such as the farmers market, as well as the types of events that have been covered under the Community Center building’s zoning for decades, the report said.
Previously, a market was located at Governor Street before it was closed in 2011, and on Danbury Road from 2008 to 2010, according to the report.
The farmers market will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays until Oct. 30.
The Community Center building is owned by the town but run by a nonprofit corporation that raises money through grants and donations to preserve the building.
