Kids enjoyed pony rides, magic shows and face painting, while adults got a taste of history at the Museum, which listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The lot on which Keeler Tavern is now located on Ridgefield’s Main Street was purchased by Benjamin Hoyt in 1713. His grandson, Timothy Keeler, opened it as T. Keeler’s Inn along with his wife, Esther, in 1772. Known as a gathering place for patriot forces, the Inn was a target of the British cannon and musket fire during the April 1777 Battle of Ridgefield.

Guests at Saturday’s celebration enjoyed walking tours and talks by re-enactors from several time periods. There was also a Family History Hunt.
