Ridgefield's Deborah Anne's Offers Sweet Treats For Valentine's Day

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- It doesn't get any sweeter than this. Come Valentine's Day, Deborah Ann’s Sweet Shoppe, a maze of chocolate on a regular day, turns into a Willy Wonka factory of heart-shaped options, a bulk of which is made in the backroom.

The store, known for its rich, fudgey varieties, is all about homemade chocolate, toffee and fudge; much of it produced at its factory in Brookfield.

Ridgefield resident Katie Rohrer, who works behind the counter, said the most popular items are the butter crunch and sea salt caramels, though truffles, peppermint bark, and other gourmet candies aren't far behind. "If you want super fresh homemade chocolate, this is the place to come.”

It's also the place for chocolate-covered strawberries, made special for Valentine’s Day; the popular treats will be sold in heart-shaped boxes.

The store is also known for its ice cream, popular even in winter.
