MOPS International is a non-profit organization that provides support to mothers of preschoolers.

Many of the participating moms have been involved since the inception, including mentor mom Debby Russell whose children are now grown, and have helped each other through many of the challenges that come with parenting small children.

“MOPS has helped me understand that I am enough. We as moms are very hard on ourselves -- we compare ourselves to other moms, we compare our kids to other kids, and Pinterest helps us see all the cute crafts we're not doing with our kids,'' said Elizabeth Egge, the current MOPS coordinator. "But when it comes down to it, I'm the best mom for my children because that's who God created me to be, so it doesn't matter what everyone else is doing. I am enough. At MOPS, I have a whole community of women who encourage me to believe and know that I am enough instead of pointing out all the ways they think I'm not. In today's society, that's almost impossible to find, especially when those women come from all different cultures and religions."

“The community of moms at MOPS has been my biggest support through the challenges I've encountered while raising my two young girls. MOPS is an encouraging and positive community of women. It has become exactly the' village' I've needed for support along my journey through motherhood,” said Laura Schmidt, mother of two young girls.

“MOPS means friendship, support, love and faith. MOPS means facing motherhood with an army of amazing values - driven women behind me, every step of the way!” says steering committee member Meg Whitbeck, mother of two young boys.

The Ridgefield chapter of MOPS meets the second Wednesday of every month from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m. at Ridgefield Baptist Church, 325 Danbury Road.
