Restaurants Dish Up Their Best Goods At A Taste Of Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. - Ridgefield's Lounsbury House hosted two servings of the Taste of Ridgefield on Sunday, with more than 30 area restaurants showing off their goods and offering free samples to hundreds of hungry visitors.

"We've been doing this event for the last 17 years," Bill Wyman, chairman of the 2016 Taste of Ridgefield, told Daily Voice. "The original concept was, if we're going to raise money in town, how do we do something to benefit the town. We know we can give money away, we do it in scholarships, we do it in grants, but how do we help the town?

"One of the best things about Ridgefield is the restaurants - so we can help people build their restaurant business, we can have a positive event to help Ridgefield grow," he said.

"This year we are doing the best we've ever done," Wyman added. "We have probably close to 700 people in attendance, and 34 participants - both up from last year. So this is a spectacular increase, and it's a great event."

The Taste of Ridgefield is run by the Rotary Club of Ridgefield and the proceeds are used for scholarships and for a new fuel subsidy program.
