What's Happening Around Ridgefield This Week

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — It’s the first full week of school for Ridgefield students, and things are picking up around town. Here are some events happening this week; check our events page for more.

Monday, Sept. 10                    

All for Twos Open House: 9:30 a.m.-noon. All For Twos is a pre-nursery school for 2-year-olds and their adult caretakers. The school is opening up for parents to come have a look. All for Twos, 15 Danbury Road, Ridgefield.

Books and Breakfast: 10:30 a.m.-noon. The library staff invites residents to come and talk about their favorite books at the monthly meeting. Garden House of the Keeler Tavern Museum, 132 Main St., Ridgefield.

Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. The Board of Education is holding its regular meeting. This week there will be a discussion of the goals for the district in the 2012-13 school year. Ridgefield Town Hall Annex, 66 Prospect St., Ridgefield.

Tuesday, Sept. 11

9/11 Memorial: 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. The town is holding a memorial for the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. All are welcome to attend. 9/11 Memorial, Ridgefield Parks and Recreation, 195 Danbury Road, Ridgefield.

Michael McDonald Performs: 8 p.m.-11 p.m. In his second performance at the Ridgefield Playhouse, Michael McDonald will be joined by special guest Griffin Anthony, a fellow singer-songwriter. Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 E. Ridge Road, Ridgefield.

Wednesday, Sept. 12

Morning Networking: 7:45 a.m.-9 a.m. The Tutoring Club is hosting a morning networking event, providing information about the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Walk to Cure Diabetes. Refreshments will be served, and networking opportunities will be available. Tutoring Club, 431 Main St., Ridgefield.

Sleep Aids for Babies: 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Alison Bevan, a sleep consultant with The Center for Advanced Pediatrics, will answer questions and share tips on how to help your children, from birth to 6 years, to go to sleep. Ridgefield Parks and Recreation, 195 Danbury Road, Ridgefield.

Thursday, Sept. 13

New Business Ribbon-Cutting: 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. The Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce is holding a ribbon-cutting for its new member, fitness group Bodies in Motion. Registration is recommended. Bodies in Motion, 80 Grove St., Suite 4, Ridgefield.

Under the Gun: 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. The Ridgefield League of Women Voters is hosting a panel of experts to discuss guns in American society and culture. Ridgefield Town Hall, large conference room, 400 Main St., Ridgefield.

An Evening with Joy Behar: 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Host of ABC’s show “The View,” Joy Behar will be taking the stage at the Playhouse with her comedy, stories and political satire. Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 E. Ridge Road, Ridgefield.
