RIDGEFIELD, Conn. The arias and extravagance of opera come to the screen at the Ridgefield Playhouse the weekend of Oct. 27 and 28 with two performances of "Otello" starring Renee Fleming.
The screening of the Verdi opera is part of "The Met: Life in HD series and includes a behind-the-scenes tour and interviews with the performers. The opera stars Johan Botha in the title role.
There will be shows of Verdi's Shakespearean masterpiece on Oct. 27 at 12:55 p.m. and Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.
You can purchase all 12 operas in the series, which runs through April 2013, for $216, $18 per opera, or buy single tickets at $25 for adults, $20 for members and $15 for students. Tickets are available by calling the box office at 203 438-5795, or you can order them online.
