With hits songs “A Girl like You,” “Only a Memory,” “Top of the Pops,” “Tell Me When Did Things Go Wrong,” among others, The Smithereens have become legends of 1960s British Invasion-style power pop, due to their unique but familiar blend of mod Britpop with tinges of heavy rock.

The band was formed by a group of New Jersey classmates in 1980 and quickly became popular on the American college rock scene. The Smithereens play both original songs, as well as covers of timeless bands, such as The Beatles and The Kinks by using a classic but refreshingly non-imitative musical approach.

In the three decades they have performed together, the group has released seven albums, some of which have received gold or platinum status and spawned Top 40 radio hits.
