Teen artists ages 13-18 are invited to take part in the free workshop hosted by Weir Farm National Historic Site and taught by impressionist artist and master instructor Wright. Wright will lecture and demonstrate how to capture light and color from an impressionist’s perspective in the morning and paint outside in the afternoon. Participants must have a basic understanding of their selected art form, bring their own art supplies and be able to handle their equipment for plein air fieldwork and in the studio.

Wright seeks to continue the impressionist discipline through his preservation and progress of American Impressionism as the artist-in-residence of the Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich and as an instructor of impressionist drawing and painting at the Greenwich Art Society, Silvermine School of Art and Weir Farm National Historic Site.

The free workshop is for teens ages 13-18. To register, contact Cydonie Fukami at 203-834-1896 ext. 28 or via email at cydonie_fukami@nps.gov. Space is limited.

This workshop is the third in a series to be offered at Weir Farm National Historic Site in 2016 to carry on the site’s artistic tradition of impressionist painting and to celebrate the National Park Service Centennial. Upcoming workshops in the series include:

  • August – Sunset to Moonlight: Night Plein Air Painting Workshop for Adults
  • October – Fall Impressionist Painting Workshop for Advanced Adults

Weir Farm National Historic Site is at 735 Nod Hill Road, Wilton.
