Sergio Mendes Performs At Ridgefield Playhouse

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Legendary Brazilian musician Sergio Mendes is bringing his unique bossa nova fusion of jazz, samba, funk and pop for a show Feb. 3 at the Ridgefield Playhouse.

The evening kicks off at 7:15 p.m. Feb. 3 in the lobby of the Playhouse, 80 East Ridge, with a complementary wine tasting from Palm Bay International. The concert follows at 8 p.m.

Mendes, who brought bossa nova to the U.S. nearly five decades ago, is known for his albums and singles, such as "Brasil 66," "Mas Que Nada," and "The Look of Love." In his 1983 album, Mendes enjoyed his biggest single ever, "Never Gonna Let You Go."

The Brazilian pianist, composer, arranger, and bandleader has worked with well-known musicians such as Herb Alpert, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake and the Black Eyed Peas. Mendes was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012 for his work on the original song "Real In Rio" for the animated film "Rio."
