The educational presentation will start at 1 p.m. Oct. 12 at Ballard Park in Ridgefield, according to a notice from the department.

"Ever wonder why the leaves turn so many different colors? Or why our New England's fall is so famous? Join us and find out," representatives said in the notice. "As the days get shorter, the nights get a bit chillier, our lives begin to change. The kids go back to school, vacations are over and we settle back into our normal lives. Trees go through changes as well. Take a tour through beautiful Ballard Park, with local arborist, Tom Reiner, from The Care of Trees, and discover the hidden secrets of how our trees prepare for winter."

All ages are welcome at the presentation and residents are asked to bring comfortable walking shoes, according to the release. This program is co-sponsored by Ridgefield's Park and Recreation Department.
