RIDGEFIELD, Conn. Folk singers Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey will celebrate 50 years of performing together by coming to the Ridgefield Playhouse on Sept. 21.
Yarrow and Stookey made up two thirds of the 1960s band Peter, Paul and Mary. The duo will be singing many of the groups classic hits including If I Had a Hammer, Blowin in the Wind, Puff (The Magic Dragon,) I Dig Rock & Roll Music and Leaving on a Jet Plane.
The trio won five Grammy Awards, produced 13 Top 40 hits, of which six ascended into the Top 10 and earned eight Gold and five Platinum albums.
In 2006, Peter, Paul and Mary received the latest in a long line of honors, The Songwriters Hall Of Fame's Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of their mastery of topical songs.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of Mary Travers, who died in 2009.
