RIDGEFIELD, Conn. Comedian and Grammy nominee Margaret Cho will bring her new stand-up comedy act to the Ridgefield Playhouse on Sept. 28.
Her new show is named Mother and centers on her look at non-traditional take on motherhood, maternal figures and strong women. She also tackles topics including race, drugs, sexuality, celebrity, culture and politics.
Cho recently was nominated for her second Grammy Award for Comedy Album of the Year for "Cho Dependent." The collection of music features collaborations with Fiona Apple, Andrew Bird, Grant Lee Phillips, Tegan & Sarah, Ben Lee and other artists.
In July, Cho was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for playing Kim Jong-II on "30 Rock."
Cho began writing jokes for stand up at the age of 14. Soon after beginning her career, won a comedy contest for which first prize was opening for Jerry Seinfeld. She moved to Los Angeles in the early '90s and hit the college circuit, performing more than 300 times within two years.
Cho will be joined by guest Selene Luna, an actress, comedian, burlesque star and model.
