Tchaikovsky’s "Eugene Onegin" starring diva Anna Netrebko with Mariusz Kwiecien will be shown from the Met Live in HD at 12:55 p.m. Oct. 5. Directed by Fiona Shaw, "Eugene Onegin" stars Netrebko and Kwiecien as the love-struck Tatiana and the imperious Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s fateful romance. Deborah Warner’s new production, set in the late 19th century, moves episodically from farmhouse to ballroom, with a powerful snowstorm providing the dramatic setting for the finale. Piotr Beczala is Lenski, Onegin’s friend turned rival.
Britain’s premier experience, National Theatre Live, comes to the playhouse with the award-winning "Macbeth" at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21. Kenneth Branagh stars in his first Shakespeare performance in more than a decade in "Macbeth." Alex Kingston of "Doctor Who" and "ER" fame, plays Lady Macbeth.
