Payne opened for the Bacon Brothers at The Ridgefield Playhouse in June. The great response led to a return show later this month, representatives said in a press release. Payne will play The Ridgefield Playhouse in a one-night performance at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16.

"Joshua stunned the audience as he delivered jaw-dropping performances of his powerful music and did it in such a profound and unforgettable way," representatives said in the press release. "This up-and-coming artist will play songs from his new album While He Was Boy along with some surprise numbers. Special guest is Lines West, a band with influences from rock to country, and grunge to Americana with a little Brit Invasion stirred in."

The event will be the first in a new series focusing on budding artists called the Bruce Bennett Nissan LEAF Emerging Artist Series.

"One of the most abundantly gifted of a new breed of singer and songwriter, Joshua Payne is blessed with a big, classically-trained voice and a soul to match," representatives said in the release. "On his new album, Payne performs three pop classics, Chicago's 'If You Leave Me Now,' 'If' by David Gates of Bread, and 'Let It Be Me' by the legendary French chanteur Gilbert Bécaud, as well as original compositions. He vividly reimagines these time-tested classics with his powerful baritone and makes these songs his own."

Other artists in the Bruce Bennett Nissan LEAF Emerging Artist Series include Charlie Scopoletti with special guest Bobby Paltauf on Nov. 6, Pete Hopkinson CT Blues Showcase on Jan. 16, Jay Nash on Feb. 12 and Matt Schofield with special guests Carly & Eliza on March 13.

For tickets, which are $28, residents can visit The Ridgefield Playhouse website or call the box office at 203-438-5795.
