Monday, Sept. 3
Labor Day: All day Residents are reminded that all local government buildings and offices are closed in observance of the national holiday.
Tuesday, Sept. 4
Library Re-Opening: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Ridgefield Library re-opens in its new location at the old Balduccis with new, extended hours. Those who participated in summer reading can begin to pick up their prizes. Ridgefield Library, 21 Governor St., Ridgefield.
NonFictioneers: 7:15-9 p.m. The Ridgefield Librarys non-fiction book group is meeting to discuss Empire of the Summer Moon about the rise and fall of the Comanche Indians by C. S. Gwynne. Ridgefield Library, 21 Governor St., Ridgefield.
Steven Vai Performs: 8-11 p.m. Steven Vai and his band will perform at the Ridgefield Playhouse as a part of the Guinness Lager Rock Series. Vai will be joined by Beverly McClellan. Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 E. Ridge Road, Ridgefield.
Wednesday, Sept. 5
Author Talk with Peter Steiner: 7-8p.m. Along with Books on the Common the Ridgefield Library is hosting a talk with fiction-thriller writer Peter Steiner, whose latest book The Resistance came out in August. Ridgefield Library, 21 Governor St., Ridgefield.
Board of Selectmen Meeting: 7:30-9 p.m. The Ridgefield Board of Selectmen will be at the Town Hall Large Conference room for its regular meeting. Public comment is welcome. Town Hall, 400 Main St., Ridgefield.
Thursday, Sept. 6
School Open House: 6:45-9 p.m. Both East Ridge and Scotts Ridge middle schools are having open houses. Parents are encouraged to check times with each school. East Ridge, 10 E. Ridge Road; Scotts Ridge, 750 N. Salem Road, Ridgefield.
Murder by the Book: 10 a.m. to noon The Ridgefield Library mystery book club is reading Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. The book introduces private detective Jackson Brodie, who finds echoes of the tragedies in his own life in the details of several old cases of murder and missing persons he agrees to investigate. Ridgefield Library, 21 Governor St., Ridgefield.
Dine and Donate: 5-11 p.m. Bistro 7 in Wilton is hosting a fundraiser for the Ridgefield Playhouse Arts for Everyone Program; 50 percent of the dinner profits will be donated. Bistro 7 Restaurant + Bar, 991 Danbury Road, Wilton.
