Guitar Player Tommy Emmanuel to Play in Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Two-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel will be taking the stage at the Ridgefield Playhouse on Sept. 20.

The Australian musician has performed all over the world for more than five decades. Emmanuel calls his style of guitar playing “finger-style” or “band in a box.” He has found a way to use his guitar to play melody, rhythm, bass, and drum parts.

In May 2008, Guitar Player Magazine’s readers’ poll named Emmanuel the “Best Acoustic Guitarist”, and in 2010, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia. Throughout his career, Emmanuel has played with notable artists including Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton, Sir George Martin, John Denver and Les Paul.

His duet with Atkins, “Smokey Mountain Lullaby,” was nominated for a Grammy award, and his “Gameshow Rag/Cannonball Rag” won “Instrumental of the Year” at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2007.

Emmanuel will be joined by special guest singer-songwriter Christopher Robin known for his voice and his own style of music.
