Celebrate "The Star-Spangled Banner" Anniversary In Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- The Discovery Center at Ridgefield will celebrate the 199th anniversary of the day Francis Scott Key wrote the words to what became the lyrics of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the Lake Windwing Open Space on Friday at 10 a.m.

The discussion will explore just who Francis Scott Key was and the importance of the War of 1812's Battle of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, which inspired Key's poem.

The event is intended for families and those who attend will be given an American flag.

Admission is free for Discovery Center members and $7 for non-members.
