The multi-talented duo are real life brothers – actor Kevin (“The Following,” “Apollo 13,” “Mystic River,” “Footloose”) and Michael, the Emmy-Award winning film and television composer.
They blend hard-charging tunes with mellow, country-folk ballads, and a little Philly soul. The release of their seventh album in 2014, “36 Cents,” brought in a new era for the Bacon Brothers. Both Philadelphia-bred brothers sing, write songs and play the guitar. Kevin adds harmonica and percussion to the mix and Michael shows off his classical training on the cello.
According to The New Yorker, “Hollywood hangs like an albatross around the neck of any movie star turned musician, but this duo shakes off the burden of fame with sharply executed rock that has a blue-collar, rootsy edge.”
The band began when Michael received an invitation to play a one-off gig at a local club in their hometown of Philadelphia. After the successful show, the brothers decided to explore its potential.
Sold-out gigs in New York, LA, Nashville, Chicago and San Francisco followed, as well as a high-profile show opening for The Band at Carnegie Hall and appearing alongside the likes of Shania Twain and Wyclef Jean on the TNT Network’s “The Gift of Song” special.
