It's Now 'Logistically Impossible' For Trump To Serve Any Prison Time, Expert Says
Critics hoping to see former President Donald Trump in a jail cell can kiss that fantasy goodbye following his second White House win. The 78-year-old Trump will almost certainly see his myriad legal troubles vanish now that he’s been declared the winner of the 2024 election against Vice President Kamala Harris, said Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor. Trump is currently facing federal charges in Washington, DC, for alleged fraud in the 2020 election, as well as election fraud charges in the state of Georgia. Special Counsel Jack Smith has also appealed a federal judge’s ruling dism…

Steven Bannon Set To Report To Danbury Prison To Serve Sentence
Steve Bannon, a once trusted strategist to former President Donald Trump, is set to report to prison Monday, July 1, in Fairfield County. Bannon, a conservative podcaster, is set to begin a four-month sentence at the federal prison in Danbury for defying a congressional subpoena that was investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots. The 70-year-old had turned to the US Supreme Court to avoid reporting to prison. That request was denied on Friday, June 28, by the court. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, as of 11 a.m. Monday, Bannon had not yet reported to "any" federal prison.&nb…

Supreme Court Reverses Conviction Of Ex-Cuomo Aide From Northern Westchester
The country's top court has reversed the wire-fraud conviction of a Northern Westchester County resident and former top aide to ousted New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who has already served years of prison time for the offense. In a decision on Thursday, May 11, the US Supreme Court unanimously ruled to reverse the fraud conviction of Joseph Percoco, of the hamlet of South Salem in the town of Lewisboro, who was sent to federal prison on corruption charges in 2018. Percoco, age 54, had been accused of accepting over $300,000 in bribes from an energy company in 2014 while he had been …

Michael Skakel Won't Be Retried By State For Martha Moxley Greenwich Murder
Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel will not be retired for the death of Martha Moxley in the Belle Haven section of Greenwich in 1975. In a stunning announcement, Connecticut Chief State’s attorney Richard Colangelo said on Friday, Oct. 30, that he would not retry Skakel because he could not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. While speaking before Stamford Superior Court Judge Gary White, Colangelo said a recent review of the case showed that of the 51 potential witnesses, 17 had died. He also said he had reviewed all the evidence and could find nothing new to use in a trial. N…

Chalking Tires For Parking Enforcement Is Unconstitutional, Federal Court Rules
Parking enforcement officers using chalk to mark tires may be acting unconstitutionally, a federal court ruled. Chalking tires to enforce time limits on parking has been a tried and true practice for scofflaws around the country for decades. This week, a federal appeals court ruled that “chalking” is a violation of the Fourth Amendment, which protects people from “unreasonable searches and seizures.” The case was introduced by Michigan resident Alison Taylor, who was described by the court as a “frequent recipient of parking tickets.” She reportedly received 15 tickets before taking actio…

Most Americans Support Substantial Restrictions On Abortion, Marist Poll Says
The new Marist Poll Survey has revealed that the majority of Americans are in favor of increased restrictions on abortion. About 75 percent of Americans agree that abortion should be limited to the first three months of pregnancy, at most. This includes both those who identify as Republicans, at 92 percent, independents, at 78 percent, and Democrats, at 60 percent, as well as 61 percent who identify as pro-choice. In addition, the survey found that 65 percent of Americans say that if the Supreme Court revisits Roe v. Wade, the court should rule to either allow restrictions as decided by eac…

Supreme Court Won't Take Michael Skakel Case
The U.S. Supreme Court announced Monday it will not hear the state of Connecticut's bid to reinstate Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel’s conviction for the murder of Martha Moxley in 1975 in Greenwich. The original 2002 conviction was vacated in May 2018 by the Connecticut Supreme Court who ruled that Skakel, 58, was deprived of his right to effective counsel and was entitled to a new trial on charges he beat Moxley to death with a golf club. The court found Skakel's attorneys failed to investigate a potential alibi witness who could have helped his defense, thus causing the deprivat…

Candidates Stay On Point In Three-Way CT Gubernatorial Debate
The addition of a third, independent gubernatorial candidate to Wednesday night's debate at the University of Connecticut added a new dimension -- but no fireworks that some had forecast. Petitioning candidate Richard Nelson "Oz" Griebel of Hartford didn't provoke either major party candidate into misspeaking or changing stands from prior debates. Democrat Ned Lamont continued to emphasize fiscal restraint while Republican Bob Stefanowski continued to emphasize tax cuts and no new tolls. "Your choice is crystal clear. I'll bring change,'' Stefanowski said. "The spendin…

Donald Trump Jr. Mocks Sexual Assault Allegations Against Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh
President Trump's son, Donald Jr., questioned the content and timing of a letter that impugns his father's U.S. Supreme Court nominee. Referring to Brett Kavanaugh in an Instagram post, Trump Jr. wrote: "Oh boy. . . the Dems and their usual nonsense games really have him on the ropes now. (Sen. Dianne) Finestein (sic) had the letter in July and saved it for the eve of his vote... honorable as always. I believe this is a copy for full transparency." The president's eldest son also posted an image of an apparently fake note that looked like it was written by a child, joking that it …
