Scam Warning: New Alert Issued For Unsolicited Apple Phishing Calls
Police agencies are issuing warnings of a new Apple scam that has been making the rounds targeting iPhone users. A new alert has been issued cautioning that users have been receiving phone calls from fraudsters who make the call from a spoofed number that comes across the screen as “Apple.” According to police, you’re told that your account has been compromised or some other issue exists with your iPhone, laptop or other devices. Beware Of This Scam, Says Eversource
Eversource Energy and various Connecticut police departments are issuing a new scam alert. According to the utility company, some scammers are making phone calls claiming that your gas or electric account is delinquent and service will be shut off without immediate payment. Others are going door-to-door asking to look at a copy of your energy bill. "This is NOT us!!" Eversource CT announced on Twitter. Hang up on such callers, ask for ID from visitors and if you believe you are being scammed, don't hesitate to call your local police department.

A scammer looking to take advantage of Fairfield County residents following a recent tragedy attempted to dupe the wrong person, contacting a Connecticut State Police trooper seeking donations for a “fallen officers fund.” Connecticut State Police troopers are cautioning local residents to be on alert, after a member of the department recently received a call from a scammer in the wake of the death of a fallen officer, who was put to rest this week. Person Poses As Utility Company Employee In Fairfield County Scam
Officials are warning homeowners to be wary following reports of a scammer making the rounds in the city posing as a South Norwalk Electric and Water employee. An alert was issued this week from the company after a Norwalk resident notified them that someone claiming to be an employee from South Norwalk Electric and Water threatened to shut off the power to their without the payment of a large sum of money.
