Fairfield County Woman Charged With DUI After Being Found In Damaged Vehicle, Police Say
A woman was arrested for alleged DUI after being spotted in a damaged vehicle on the side of a roadway in Fairfield County.
The incident took place in Darien around 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, said Sgt. Dan Skoumbros, of the Darien Police.
Gretchen Miller, age 51, of Stratford, was spotted by a police officer parked on the side of Post Road with heavy front-end damage to the front of her car, Skoumbros said.
When the officer stopped to check on Miller, he could detect a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath, police said.

Darien resident Matthew Barket McEvoy died on Thursday, March 31.
A Darien High School student, McEvoy played on the varsity lacrosse team, and enjoyed mountain biking, skiing, and had an interest in cars - both old and new.

A man with warrants out for his arrest in Fairfield County is facing a host of charges after attempting to pull a fast one on police with a fake name after being busted allegedly driving drunk with his child in the car, authorities announced.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle on Brookside Road in Darien after seeing the driver repeatedly swerve over the double yellow line while following him on Post Road, Darien Police said.

Two Arrested For Using Stolen Credit Cards At Fairfield County Businesses, Police Say
Two men have been arrested for allegedly using stolen credit at numerous Fairfield County stores.
Nywain Thomas, age 25, and Eric Wolf, age 22, both of Queens, New York, were arrested in Darien after officers responded to a report of two individuals possibly using fake banking cards, according to authorities.
The complainant told officers that the two men had come into their business and one of them indicated they had left a bank card behind days prior, said Darien PD Sgt. James Palmieri.
