Massive Fairfield County Internet Outage: Duo Accused Of Cutting Fiber Optic Lines
Two people have been charged with cutting fiber optic lines which resulted in more than 40,000 customers with lost internet, TV, and phone service in Fairfield County. The incident took place in Norwalk on Friday, March 24 around 7:15 a.m. Norwalk officers responded to a report of damage to Optimum cable lines on Broad Street. New Update: Suspected Vandalism Causes Internet Outage For Thousands In Fairfield County
This story has been updated. Approximately 8,000 Optimum customers were left without internet because of "extensive damage" likely caused by a vandal, the company said. The company announced that some Fairfield County customers were without internet on Friday, March 24 due to a fiber cut by suspected vandalism. Service was estimated to be interrupted into Saturday, March 25, the company said. A man who allegedly fled from police with help from a local cable contractor is now facing criminal charges in New York. Long Island resident Borndivine Intelligence Jackson, age 26, of Bellport, was formally indicted on weapons charges Friday, Oct. 28, in Suffolk County Court. Prosecutors said Jackson ran from Suffolk County Police officers in June 2022 during a search for a suspect in an unrelated shooting investigation in Shirley. Optimum customers who lost internet service due to Tropical Storm Isaias will receive a credit, the company announced. String Of Cashed Fraudulent, Altered Checks Under Investigation In Darien
Authorities are currently investigating the cause behind a string of fraudulent and altered checks that were cashed in Darien between Tuesday, Jan. 22 and Friday, Jan. 25. On Wednesday, Jan. 23, the complainant stated that she dropped off four outgoing checks into the post office depository two days earlier.
