Police in a Fairfield County town are warning residents of an uptick in the number of bobcat sightings at parks and in yards. New Canaan Police Lt. Police and animal control in Fairfield County are warning residents to be on the lookout for wild animals in parks and woods after a dog walker was approached by a coyote. The incident took place in New Canaan around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 19 in the Jeniam Meadow at Waveny Park. According to New Canaan Animal Control Officer Allyson Halm, a woman was walking her dog when she noticed a coyote following them about two feet behind. Authorities Rescue Cat Found Abandoned In Cold At Highway Rest Stop In Fairfield County
Authorities helped rescue a cat found abandoned in the cold at a highway rest stop in Fairfield County. Connecticut State Police and New Canaan Animal Control assisted after a cat was found abandoned in a cat carrier at the I-95 rest stop on Monday, Jan. 24, according to the New Canaan Police Department. The cat was taken to a veterinarian, who found that the animal had suffered trauma to an eye and two broken legs, police reported. The cat was named "Highway," police said. Police Looking To Locate Owner Of Dog That Bit Person On Fairfield County Roadway
Police are searching for the owner of a dog that bit a person who was attempting to remove the dog from the roadway in Fairfield County. The incident took place in New Canaan in the area of Ponus Ridge Road and Bennington Place. A small white dog with a black electric fence collar bit the person at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, and then ran off, according to New Canaan Police Department. New Canaan Animal Control wants to find the dog's owner to confirm if the dog is rabies vaccinated. Anyone with information is asked to call New Canaan Animal Control at 203-594-3510.

Cat Who Scratched New Canaan Resident Under Quarantine Until Owner Is Located
Police in New Canaan are attempting to locate the owner of a cat that is now under quarantine after accidentally scratching a Fairfield County resident. Animal Control officers in New Canaan issued an alert on Monday, Aug. 10, after they found a cat in the Husted Lane area who scratched an area resident on Friday, Aug. 7. The cat (pictured above) is currently under quarantine and will remain so until its owner is located.
