Multiple Black Bear Sightings Reported In Westport
There have been multiple new black bear sightings reported as the weather continues to warm up. The Westport Police Department said that on Monday, June 29, it received multiple reports of black bears making the rounds in the northern section of town. Police said that at least one bear cub and one large male bear were spotted by local residents. The bears were not acting aggressively, and seemed to be acting normally. Five Goats Killed After Bears Makes It Over Fence At Farm In CT
A Connecticut farmer and her family are mourning the loss of five goats to a bear. Grazin' Goats Farm, in Burlington, just west of Hartford, reported on its Facebook page, that five of its goats were killed on Monday, April 29, by a bear that climbed over a 6-foot fence. "It is with a heavy heart that I post this," said the farm's owner. "Yesterday we suffered a devastating loss." The goat that made national news after its owner fired from a shotgun at a bear to protect it has died. “Carl the Goat” was pronounced dead over the weekend, as the 100-pound goat succumbed to injuries suffered following a bear attack in Wolcott, Connecticut, just north of I-84 near Waterbury, authorities announced.
