Road Closures Scheduled In Ridgefield During Ex-Chief's Funeral With services scheduled for Ridgefield Police Chief John Roche on Friday, there will be road closures and delays for the funeral procession as it travels through town. Less than a week into his retirement following nearly four decades servicing the community, the former chief died last week. No cause of death has been released. Memorial Services Scheduled For Ridgefield Police Chief John Roche Memorial services have been scheduled for John Roche, who died on Thursday, Aug. 30 less than a week after his retirement as Ridgefield police chief. He was 62. Chief Roche is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia (Hance) Roche,  and their four children: Amanda Almstead and her husband, Brett; Megan Roche; Michael Roche and Steve Roche; his two granddaughters, Marin and Sydney Almstead; and his brother, William Roche and sister, Sharon Angyal.
