Elvira’s, a convenience store described as “iconic” to the Westport area, will soon be reopening under new ownership following renovations and rebranding efforts. Renamed as Elvira Mae, the store, which stands opposite Old Mill Beach at 222 Hillspoint Road, is scheduled to open its doors once again on or around Thursday, July 4. The Westport Police Department is cautioning motorists to be cautious over the weekend due to popular events that are scheduled. This weekend, the Maker Faire will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 with several attractions being held around the Baldwin Lot on Elm Street and the Veterans Green. Start 9 p.m. Routine: Unlocked Vehicles Stolen, Broken Into In Westport Prompt New Warning
Westport police are once again warning residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables after two vehicles were stolen and two more broken into early Tuesday. The two stolen vehicles were taken from the Hillspoint Road area and two other motor vehicles were broken into, according to Westport Police Lt. Jillian Cabana. Man Turns Himself In After Punch Requires Reconstructive Surgery For Westport Victim
A man wanted for allegedly punching another person in the face, causing reconstructive surgery, turned himself in to Westport Police. Westport Police learned of the incident on Aug. 23, when the victim went to the police station to report an assault that had occurred at a Hillspoint Road address in Jully. According to police, the victim reported that Ian Pearson, age and address unknown, and a friend had been asked to leave the residence multiple times. Shelton Man Nabbed For DWI On Sherwood Island Connector
A drunken driving arrest was made early Sunday morning on the Sherwood Island Connector, Westport police said. At about 2 a.m. on Feb. 4, police officers were dispatched on a report of a vehicle operating erratically and crossing multiple lanes of travel. The vehicle was observed traveling westbound on Greens Farms Road. It traveled through the intersection with Hillspoint Road without stopping for the stop sign.
