Metro-North May Raise Parking Fees At Some Stations
Parking may be getting a bit costlier for Metro-North riders. The MTA is reviewing a proposal to increase fees at 25 station parking facilities that are controlled by the railroad. It would impact riders east of the Hudson River, including the Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines. Permit holders for 16-hour parking would pay an average of $42.75 annually, approximately 12 cents a day. Customers who use daily meters will pay an average of $14.17 more monthly, with the meters increasing by 50 to 75 cents for 16-hour parking. Fairfield County Residents Charged With Selling Alcohol To Minors
Fourteen people from five counties as well as New York City have been ticketed for illegal alcohol sales following a compliance check of local retailers throughout Putnam County. Undercover members of the Sheriff’s Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit say they worked alongside the Putnam County Communities That Care Coalition to conduct a total of 89 spot checks on establishments that offer alcoholic beverages for sale for off-premises consumption. Alert Issued For Driveway Paving Scam
Area residents are being warned of a driveway paving scam. Several incidents had been reported in the Rochester area last summer, resulting in the arrests of several persons on charges of “Scheme to Defraud.” Late last week, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a resident in Garrison reporting an incident. On Tuesday, April 2, two white men approached the homeowner at his residence and identified themselves as being from a paving company, Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. said. Woman Sentenced For DWI Crash That Killed Brookfield HS Grad
The family of a 21-year-old Manhattanville College student scolded the drunk driver who struck and killed their son in court at her sentencing on Wednesday. Rye resident Emma Fox, 26, was sentenced for her role as the driver in a fatal crash that took the life of Fishkill resident Robby Schartner, who graduated from Brookfield High School and formerly lived in Putnam County, in Garrison.
